Governors Highway Safety Association

Coordinating the GHSA Consulting Services Initiative, a pool of traffic safety experts who provide technical, programmatic and operational assistance to state highway safety offices on a per project basis. In process:

  • Communications Audit & Law Enforcement Liaison Review for a State Highway Safety Office
  • Post-Management Review Guidance for a State Highway Safety Office
  • Highway Safety Plan Update for a State Highway Safety Office
  • Regional SHSP Coalition Review for a State Highway Safety Office

Collaborating with GHSA and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety to manage a speed management program that will be piloted in a state(s) and/or community(ies) in 2020/21.

Researching and writing a report discussing the role State Highway Safety Offices can play in addressing the high-risk impaired driver, through a grant from Responsibility.org, for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2019.

On-call editor for Spotlight on Traffic Safety topical reports and other projects.

Lifesavers Conference on National Highway Safety Priorities

Program Coordinator for the nation’s largest gathering of traffic safety professionals now in its 38th year. Work with volunteers to plan three general sessions and workshops addressing distracted, impaired and aggressive driving; pedestrian, bicycle, teen, and aging driver safety; occupant protection/vehicle technology; criminal justice/law enforcement; communications; and emerging highway safety issues. Coordinate the Traffic Safety Scholars program, which awards grants to undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing careers in the field, and the Lifesavers community event (conducted in the host city immediately prior to the conference), which calls attention to the important work highway safety professionals are doing in communities across the nation to ensure the safety of all roadway users.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Communications expert measuring the impact of an Innovative and Sustainable Seat Belt Enforcement Project in Owensboro, Kentucky (in partnership with TransAnalytics, LLC).

Communications expert monitoring and assessing public outreach activities for Community-Oriented Enforcement Demonstration projects in Norman, Oklahoma (seat belt use) and Joplin, Missouri (impaired driving) (in partnership with TransAnalytics, LLC).

Program management and communications expert on impaired driving and pedestrian and bicyclist safety assessment teams, and serve as the team lead for the latter.

Subject matter expert (interagency negotiations, marketing) for a document designed to help traffic records program coordinators in State Highway Safety Offices and Traffic Records Coordinating Committee members develop a business case for data integration and interface (in partnership with VHB).

National Cooperative Highway Safety Research Program (NCHRP Project 17-64)

Member of a multi-consultant team, led by the University of Minnesota, responsible for developing a how-to guide to help states and stakeholders implement the Toward Zero Deaths Communications Plan (phase I), content for a series of webinars promoting the TZD strategy, and marketing templates to help states promote TZD trainings and tools (phase II).

Alliance Sports Marketing

Provide on-call editing, marketing and training support for the Choices Matter leadership program.

North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority

Provide ongoing support and guidance to program partners working with municipalities to adopt and sustain the Street Smart NJ pedestrian safety education & enforcement campaign statewide, and promote the program via speaking engagements and social media.
